Our in-club tournaments are taking place between 22nd June and 3rd August. Our KSTC Finals Day and BBQ is being held on Sunday 15th September. This year’s Charlton Fete Tournament is being held on Saturday 20th July, and will feature a number of members and guests.

King's Sutton Men usurped Thame at the top of the OLTA Men's Division 7 this afternoon, with a hard fought 6-3 win over their promotion rivals. King's Sutton first pair, Jack and Callum, got off to a good start, beating the Thame second pair 6-2, 6-1. King's Sutton second pair, Jerry and Johnny, lost to the Thame first pair 1-6, 2-6, but bounced back in brilliant fashion to take down the second pair 6-3, 6-1. In the match between the first pairs, Jack and Callum recovered from losing a tough first set to square the match, before taking the victory in a tense championship tiebreak, eventually running out 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (10-8) winners. The win moves King's Sutton to the top of the table and keeps them in with a great shout of promotion!
King’s Sutton B continued their march towards promotion from Division 4 of the Summer League this week, trouncing promotion rivals Hook Norton C 9-0. The team, consisting of Jerry, Callum and Matthew for the men and Caro, Belinda and Sandra for the women, were hardly pushed by the away team, winning the majority of sets 8-3. Belinda and Sandra even won their 2nd/3rd ladies match 11-0. The team now have just three matches left in the season but appear untouchable at the top of the league!
King’s Sutton B notched up another convincing victory in the Banbury Summer League, this time in the home fixture against Deddington D. The team won 9-0, with second lady Belinda Archer scoring 11-0 in her mixed with Callum Fairbrother, then 10-1 and 9-2 in her ladies doubles with first lady Caro Stacy and third lady Sandra Parsons respectively. Caro and Sandra won their ladies doubles 9-2, but first man Jerry Wright and third man Darrel Foulk had a tighter match against Deddington D’s first and third men, being pushed to 6-5. Jerry and Caro won their mixed 7-4. All in all another strong victory, with only four matches left to play in the season.
King’s Sutton B recorded their second 9-0 win on the bounce with a clinical performance against Deddington D, keeping their place atop the Division 4 table. Callum and Jerry got the night off to a strong start with a 9-2 win over the first and second men, backed up by Matt and Anne, who took the first mixed rubber 8-3, with Caro and Tanya edging out the first and second ladies on the tiebreak. The strong start materialised into a resounding win, with the team taking the rest of the rubbers comprehensively to secure the whitewash and continue to push for promotion.
Kings Sutton Ladies match against Goring B in Division 5 resulted in a good 4-4 draw. The pairs of Caro Stacy and Stephanie Browne along with Carrie Hicks and Sandra Parsons both beat Goring’s second couple but the opposition’s first couple were too strong for both the Kings Sutton pairs. However the result means that Kings Sutton currently maintain a safe position in the division.
King’s Sutton B trounced the opposition in their latest Banbury Midweek League match against Banbury West End D on 19th June. The score was a decisive 9-0, with first lady Tanya Gardiner and second lady Belinda Archer winning their rubber against the away team’s first and second ladies 11-0, and the third man Russell Robinson and third lady Gio Peart winning their mixed match 11-0 also. All the other rubbers were similarly decisive, with 7-4 being the worst score notched up against the opposition. Congratulations to the squad which also included Callum Fairbrother and Robbie Macrory. The win now puts the team top of the league.
In Div 5 of the Babolat Mixed Doubles League, Kings Sutton enjoyed a fine 8-0 win over Portcullis B. First pair, Jordan Robinson & Stephanie Browne won 6-4, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-2. Second pair, Jack Shardlow & Caro Stacy, secured 6-3, 6-3 and 6-1, 7-5 victories.
Kings Sutton B kept up their good start to the season with a tightly fought away win over Deddington C in the Banbury Midweek League. The ladies, Caro Stacy, Tanya Gardiner and Sandra Parsons, were on top form winning all three matches, including a terrific comeback from Caro and Tanya, who rallied from 0-5 down to clinch the rubber 6-5 on the tie-break. The men, Callum Fairbrother, Darrel Foulk and Russell Robinson, had a more difficult night. Callum and Darrel won the first rubber 10-1, but Callum and Russell were agonisingly edged out in the tiebreak after recovering from 5-2 down, before Darrel and Russell lost another close affair late into the night. The mixed pairings won 2 out of 3 to secure a good 6-3 win and stay in the running for promotion.
Kings Sutton Men A recorded their first win of the season with a comprehensive 8-0 win over Banbury C in Div 7 of the OLTA Men's Doubles. Kings Sutton second pair, Jack Shardlow and Callum Fairbrother, led the way with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Banbury first pair, Rob Gray and Jacob Gray, following this up with a crushing 6-0, 6-0 victory over the second pair of John Hamer and Dave Sutlieff. Kings Sutton first pair, Jordan Robinson and Darrel Foulk, also recorded two solid wins. They comfortably beat the Banbury second pair 6-0, 6-3 and the first pair 7-6, 6-4 to secure the 8-0 win.
Kings Sutton maintained their good start to the season with a 5-3 win away to Faringdon B in Div 5 of the OLTA Mixed Doubles. KS first pair, Jordan Robinson and Stephanie Browne, won both their rubbers comprehensively: 6-1, 6-2 and 6-4, 6-1. Second pair, Dave Dallaway and Carrie Hicks, had a harder time losing 6-1, 6-1 to the Faringdon 2nd pair, but drawing 3-6, 6-3 with the first pair to secure the win.
Kings Sutton B comfortably won its Summer Midweek League match against Brackley C on Wednesday 22nd May. The first and second ladies, Caro Stacy and Belinda Archer, beat the away team's first and second ladies 7-4. Belinda and the third lady, Sandra Parsons, won their rubber 9-2, and Caro and Sandra won theirs 7-4. The men, consisting of first man Callum Fairbrother, second man Robbie Macrory and third, Russell Robinson, were pushed a little harder, losing one of their matches 4-7, while Callum and Caro also just lost their mixed rubber 5-6. But the final score was a decisive 7-2 to King’s Sutton, meaning the team have so far won three out of the four matches played so far this season.
In Ladies Div 5 Kings Sutton had a battle against current league leaders Oxford Sports B but came off the losers. First pair Stephanie Browne and Caro Stacy beat Oxford Sports second pair 6-1, 6-2 but lost 3-6,5-7 to the first. Second pair Sandra Parsons and Hilary Stratton went down 6-3, 6-2 to the firsts and then had a mammoth 3 sets eventually losing 6-7, 6-3, 6-7 with a final match score of 6-3 putting Kings Sutton third in the league table.
The first girls Under 14 Oxfordshire Summer League match this season took place at Kings Sutton Tennis Club on Saturday 11th May between Lottie and Molly Doherty of Kings Sutton Tennis Club and Jaylan Johnson and Grace Ford of Oxford Sports Lawn Tennis Club. It was a calm and beautifully sunny morning and the standard of play was extremely high. There were some excellent and closely fought games in the singles with the first seed pair going to Kings Sutton 6-2, 6-3 and the second seed pair to Oxford Sports by 11 – 9 in the Championship tie-break. In the deciding doubles match, Kings Sutton won 6-2, 6-4 resulting in an overall win for the home team.
Kings Sutton B had a comfortable win in their midweek fixture against Hook Norton D in Div 4 of the Banbury League. Playing at home, Darrel Foulk, Callum Fairbrother and Robbie Macrory had a tough time against the men, with two tight 5-6 losses and a 6-5 win. Tanya Gardiner, Sandra Parsons and Gio Peart faired better against the ladies with three comfortable wins. The mixed pairings all won and resulted in a strong 7-2 win overall.
In Div 1 of the Banbury Midweek League, Kings Sutton A defeated Middleton Cheney A by a comprehensive 9-0. The team of Jordan Robinson, Charlie Sandy, Jack Shardlow, Steph Browne, Helen Loggin & Caro Stacy put in an excellent performance, though the overall match score didn’t reflect the fact that some of the rubbers were closely fought.
Kings Sutton A drew 4-4 with Mapledurham A in their opening match in the OLTA Mixed Doubles Div 5. Kings Sutton’s first pair of Helen Loggin & Jordan Robinson won their rubbers 6-1, 6-0 and 6-4, 6-1, but the second pair, Carrie Hicks and Callum Fairbrother, lost 2-6, 4-6 and 1-6, 3-6.
In the Banbury Weekend League Mixed Doubles, the new Kings Sutton team played their first match v Priors Marston. In the Mens rubber Richard Snell & Russell Robinson lost to a strong Priors pair 6-0 6-0 . In the Ladies rubber Caro Stacy & Sandra Parsons won 6-4, 6-1 . In the Mixed rubbers, the first pair of Snell & Stacy had a tough task against good opposition losing 6-4, 6-1. The second pair of Robinson & Parsons lost a fairly even contest 6-4,6-4. The final score was 6-2 to Priors Marston.
Kings Sutton made a great start to their OLTA Ladies Div 5 campaign beating Bicester B team 8-0. KS’s first pair of Stephanie Browne & Caro Stacy won 6-1, 6-2 and 6-4, 6-1. Second pair Carrie Hicks and Sally McAllister-Little, won 6-3, 6-3 and 6-2, 6-3.
In the OLTA Men's Div 7, Kings Sutton drew 4-4 with Watlington. The KS first pair, Jordan Robinson & Jack Shardlow won both their matches comfortably, but despite a battling performance in which they went down 7-5 in three of their sets, 2nd pair of Callum Fairbrother & Robbie Macrory, were unable to add to the KS points total.
